Last weekend our friend Rebecca came over and did some painting with us as we had an artsy afternoon. Just before she left she took out her kites from her car and we enjoyed our brisk wind by flying them. I think it was very telling that none of my horses cared or even seemed to notice that there were giant flapping things hovering in the air over their paddocks, except Note.
Note watched carefully nearly the whole time we were flying the kites. I've never seen a horse stare straight up into the sky before, but he was pretty sure that these new puzzling things merited his attention.
Even though Note watched carefully, he didn't panic or get upset. I think it's great that my horses are so used to odd things happening, and feel safe enough here that even a very strange new thing doesn't rile them up, it just merits some staring into the sky.
