Horse body parts can be tricky, because there are normal person terms, horse person terms, and veterinary medical terms (usually in latin). For example: the foot, the hoof, and the distal phalanx are all approximately the same thing. So how would a person identify where an injury is located on a horse? The body parts identified above on my pony, Garmin, are a good starting point. If you can identify all these areas you should be able to tell the vet where an injury has occurred. For example, "there is a cut on my horse's shoulder", or "my horse has a swollen fetlock". A great source for more information about horse body parts is the
US Pony Club Manuals of Horsemanship, or Cherry Hill's books about horse care.
