Beauty had a great day at the saddle club show with Jasi aboard. Recently Beauty has been kind of strong in riding lessons with her owner, so her owner declared Jasi could take her to the show and, "make that pushy mare pay attention!" It was mostly in jest since Beauty is generally a great mare to ride, but she does love to gallop with Jasi.
They had two stellar rides in their pattern classes, and did very well in their rail class which required shortening and lengthening the horse's stride at all three gaits.
They even did the jumping classes for level one and level two, which were cross rails and 18" verticals, respectively.
I was very proud of them both, especially the way Jasi handled Beauty in the busy jumping warmup arena with little kids careening around willy-nilly and never calling their fences. There were some near misses, that's for sure, but Jasi's cool head under pressure prevailed. Jasi was the only one to ride the correct course in the jumping classes, and the judge made a point to tell her so and congratulate her on really good rides.
All that practicing and sticking it out at horse shows is paying off, we're going to have to set up a rack on the wall for all the ribbons Jasi is bringing home! She even ended up being the high point winner for her division. Not too shabby for a kid training a quarter horse how to ride english and jump.
